Redwood City, CA, USA
Posted on Saturday, September 14, 2024

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded by Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg in 2015 to help solve some of society’s toughest challenges — from eradicating disease and improving education to addressing the needs of our local communities. Our mission is to build a more inclusive, just, and healthy future for everyone.

The Team

At CZI, we pair technology with grantmaking to equip educators, families and students with tools that integrate high-quality research, practices and content to unlock the full potential of every student, no matter who they are or where they live. From program conception to software feature design, we center our work on student and educator voices to help educators address the day-to-day challenges in their classrooms.

Since 2015, our grant investments have helped catalyze new tools, practices, and measures designed to foster whole-child outcomes. We leverage technology to provide research-based practices in products that help teachers connect with students and tailor learning experiences to individual student needs.

At our core, we are builders and our unique builder philanthropy approach is what sets us apart from other education funders. Take a closer look at the highlights and significant milestones of CZI’s first eight years of education work.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting time to join CZI Education and the newly formed School Development team. You will ensure we are deepening our understanding of, and alignment to, the academic and technology priorities of K12 school districts by developing district partnerships to participate in meaningful UXR and co building of district and classroom applications, and you will join several project teams to represent the voice of district leaders and administrators.

What You'll Do

  • Nurture and maintain meaningful relationships with district leadership, including Administrators, Academic Officers/Heads of Curriculum, and key instructional technology leads, and their staff, ensuring the partnership is valuable and successful for both the district and CZI Edu and that ongoing engagement with district leaders, educators and staff nets strong sentiment.
  • Participate in work to form relationships with state education agency leaders, and help advise on how state policies and initiatives should inform application strategy and district relationships.
  • Act as the voice of districts in application project teams, helping to align development and UXR plans and milestones to district calendars, processes, and procedures, and by understanding and conveying the workings of district partners– roles, budgets, RFPs, adoptions (curriculum, technology), and cycles, etc., and the district's priorities and initiatives – strategic plans, committees, etc., and the district’s policies and procedures, including data & privacy.
  • Partner with UXR in ensuring strong district engagement in UXR activities, including interviews, focus groups, and pilots and supporting UXR in the recruiting process and clearance of district approvals/consents.

What You'll Bring

  • Deep knowledge of the education ecosystem and administration of school districts, preferably having served as a K12 district or school leader.
  • Strong acumen of the instructional cycle via experience as a K12 classroom teacher and/or as a curriculum leader, specialist or coach.
  • Preferably experience with/knowledge of the grant making process and cycle.
  • Experience with CRMs, preferably Salesforce, and a desire to help us build up our district partnership capabilities, leading some of the work to develop internal processes, engagement policies and rules to maximize our system in supporting and reporting on our district partnership work.
  • Ability to hold the bigger picture strategic goals for partnerships across CZI Edu to ensure we stay lock step, and successful in meeting our application goals.

Compensation

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for this role is $200,000-$250,000-$300,000. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process. Pay ranges outside Redwood City are adjusted based on cost of labor in each respective geographical market.
