About the Opportunity

Ellucian’s IT Operations is seeking a talented Principal Systems Engineer to join our team with a focus on Active Directory, Identity Management, and Privileged Access Management. As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and administrating our mission critical Active Directory and Privileged Access Management Platforms. This is a high impact role where your contributions will help ensure a highly available and secure identity and authentication platform. We are looking for a motivated contributor with strong skills in Active Directory infrastructure, Privileged Access Management, Modern Authentication, Windows Security, and PowerShell.


Where you will make an impact

  • Design, Implement and Manage Privileged Access Controls.
  • Secure and manage on premises Active Directory, cloud identity solutions and applications using.
  • Work with architects, integration engineers, and developers to integrate systems with identity solutions.
  • Lead implementation activities for identity systems including Active Directory and Privileged Access Management and other identity systems.
  • Enhance monitoring and auditing capabilities on identity platforms.
  • Provide best practices guidance to Systems Administrators.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to deal with outages and maintenance windows.
  • Be part of a team. Share knowledge. Mentor. Be open, honest, and have a positive attitude.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with teammates to provide reliable 24 x 7 x 365 support to production systems.

 

What you will bring

  • 10+ years of experience in an IT corporate environment, with at least 7 years as an enterprise-level Active Directory Engineer and at least 5 years of experience with Privileged Access Management solutions.
  • Expert ability to write automation scripts using PowerShell.
  • Expert ability in Windows Security and Server Hardening including Security Policies, Group Policy and ACLs, especially permissions and delegations in on premises Active Directory.
  • Expert knowledge of Role Based Access Controls and Privileged Access Management.
  • Knowledge of email systems including Microsoft Exchange on premises and Office 365
  • Good understanding of databases like Microsoft SQL server or Oracle DB.
  • Good understanding IP networking and services.
  • Internally motivated.  The candidate should have the desire and ability to own problems and solve them.
  • Deep understanding and experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system issues.
  • Multi-year experience maintaining secure production, lab, and development environments.
  • Ability to plan, hold yourself and others accountable, and follow up with others.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to clearly communicate status and urgency.
  • Ability to understand priorities and escalate accordingly.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
