About the Opportunity

We are seeking to hire a System Administrator to join our Ellucian TM team onsite at the Centenary University campus in New Jersey. Candidate must be hard-working, self-motivated and dedicated with the ability to manage and maintain our data center including Ellucian’s Colleague ERP, Ellucian CRM Recruit and a variety of auxiliary data systems. Requires expert level competencies with MS Server, MSSQL databases, and VMWare operations.

The Systems Administrator plays a key role in all operations. This member of the team has the primary responsibility for managing the enterprise data center’s on-premises hosted applications including the Ellucian Colleague, CRM Recruit, and ILP environments, as well as auxiliary systems including Synoptics, Transact, Theater Manager, Titanium, Koha, ADSS, Endpoint Central, ADManager, and is the primary administrator of the Active Directory and LDAP environment as well as the campus CUCM VOIP system.

Position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), with whom he or she must work closely in direct support of strategic and tactical University initiatives for a small private University and works closely with both the Technical Director and User Services Supervisor to provide world class support to the campus.

Where you will make an impact

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations, proactive management, maintenance, and monitoring of mission critical applications hosted in our VMWare data center.
  • Provides direct User Support for operating systems, servers, directory services, access control, data security, telecommunications, applications, and integrations.
  • Responsible for installation, upgrades, patching, and security of all applications, data system components, databases, web servers, and server/client software.
  • Responsible for backup operations, disaster recovery, and failover procedures in Unitrends cloud.
  • Responsible for installing and maintaining SSL security certificates.
  • Responsible for all data system integrations and automation processes onsite and to the cloud.
  • Responsible for fluid, flawless user account provisioning, deprovisioning, and synchronization of Active Directory and MS365 Azure cloud.
  • Responsible for oversight of automated weekly server patch cycle and steady state checklists.
  • Responsible for campus VOIP phone and voicemail management in CUCM / Unity environment including performing adds/moves/changes of phone equipment and provisioning / archiving of accounts.
  • Responsible for documentation including inventory, security standards, configurations, and technical specifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining all Change Requests and Service Requests in Service Now, submitting project status information to Smartsheet, and delivering monthly status reports to CIO in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ‘stretch’ assignments as appropriate.

What you will bring

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in server, database, and system administration  
  • Ellucian Colleague ERP experience is needed.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization in VCenter & VMWare, NetApp, etc.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Server operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory Doman Services, DNS and DHCP.
  • Experience with UNIX environments – Redhat, Linux, Debian, etc
  • Experience with power shell, server scripting, sql queries, stored procedures, and automation
  • Experience with all aspects of system security, auditing, ACLs, back-up and recovery
  • Cisco Networking and VOIP experience is a plus; will need broad-based, understanding of configuring and implementing network switches and routers.
  • Experience administering and supporting a variety of enterprise level systems will be helpful. Environment includes Ellucian Colleague, Recruit CRM, BBTS / Transact, Synoptix, Pharos360, Moodle LMS, ADManager, Tenable, SolarWinds, Theater Manager, Perceptive DM, Tinaium, Pyramed, Raiser’s Edge; Will be expected to learn and master new applications as needed.
  • Experience with Solarwinds, Service Now, Manage Engine tools (DC10, AD360), Office 365, Google Suite a plus
