As primary investment area within Goldman Sachs, we provide investment and advisory services for pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, financial advisors and individuals.

XIG Platform Management team broadly is responsible for portfolio implementation and trading, liquidity management, executing equity and currency hedging programs, portfolio construction and monitoring, external manager on-boarding, product development and launch, private market deal closings, overseeing the business control framework as well as a number of important strategic initiatives. The team works in concert with the investment and teams within XIG, and with functional teams across the AWM division including Central Trading, Fund Accounting, Operations, Technology, Legal, and Compliance. Within Platform Management, specific teams focus on discrete fund management activities such as external manager onboarding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The candidate will be a key contributor to the public markets Manager Onboarding function which is responsible for XIG business operations that involve and impact external investment managers. This includes management of products and platforms and maintaining constructive relationships with external managers and client channels.
  • Significant interaction with senior members across XIG investment and client teams, Goldman Sachs Asset Management Federation and external investment managers, including supervisory governance bodies (e.g., internal committees, independent fund boards).
  • Material time will be spent directly engaging with external manager COOs, CFOs, and GCs which requires a deep understanding of the manager strategies, investment vehicles, security types, operations and market dynamics as well as XIG and Goldman Sachs Asset Management capabilities, needs and contractual obligations.
  • Drive contractual negotiations with external investment managers. This would include negotiation of key commercial, legal, and risk provisions in investment management agreements, investment guidelines and derivatives trading line agreements, as required.
  • Responsibility for oversight and project management of operational onboarding of external investment managers to XIG products and platforms.
  • In-depth partnership with the XIG investment team to design and execute AIMS portfolio trade events, including evaluation and oversight of transition managers.
  • Significant engagement in XIG client onboarding activities. Particular focus and ownership for the Manager Onboarding aspects of new and existing client mandates.
  • Partner with various XIG teams in evaluating investment opportunities, product development and rationalization, and platform expansion/enhancement with a focus on profitability, efficiency and scalability.
  • Active engagement with external investment managers on regulation impacting XIG platforms and products. Successful engagement requires a strong understanding of the asset management regulatory landscape and impact to investment strategies.
  • Hands-on involvement in acquisition working groups and post-acquisition integration efforts as relates firm transactions with direct implications to XIG personnel, products, and platforms.
  • Active involvement in XIG-wide projects and strategic initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience; preferably in asset management, alternative investments or prime brokerage.
  • Solid understanding of public markets investment structures, strategies, and instruments.
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter with demonstrated orientation toward managing sensitive and business critical initiatives and negotiations.
  • Strong management, communication, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven project planning, organization, and time management skills. The candidate should able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to oversee production of a high volume of quality work within tight timeframes.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Experience in technology projects is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented.
