CONTROLLERS

Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. Our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets.

BUSINESS UNIT


The Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firm's assets: to help maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs' finances and expenditures. Through careful consideration and analysis of firm finances, objectives and strategies, we ensure that the firm's businesses continue to be profitable and efficiently run. Controllers also ensure that all business practices are in compliance with financial and regulatory requirements worldwide. Since contact with virtually every part of the firm is essential to Controllers, professionals in the department experience Goldman Sachs businesses, products and sophisticated technology systems in depth.
The Capital Assets Planning and Analysis (CAPA) team acts as the subject matter expert in all areas involving accounting and reporting for Leases, Fixed Assets, Long-Term Construction Projects and Internally Developed Software, amongst other things. The team is involved in accounting policy decisions affecting complex capital projects and real estate deals in the Special Situation Investment Group. The team plays an instrumental role in providing inputs for the SEC and Fed reporting


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


 Responsible for accounting and managing the capital projects and fixed assets for entities across the globe in accordance with all relevant GAAPs & ensure that financial reporting of fixed assets meets applicable accounting principles and regulations
 Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for accounting of fixed assets.
 Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
 Analyze significant capital asset/ real estate contracts based on applicable literature under US GAAP and have discussions with accounting policy on the appropriate accounting treatment.
 Analyze and reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to general ledger and ensure appropriate resolution of breaks
 Provide variance analysis and prepare management reporting packs on monthly/quarterly basis
 Track expenditures in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations for significant projects.

 Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
 Support details required by the tax teams for preparation of tax returns.
 Perform SoX control procedures, Balance Sheet substantiation, etc.


SKILL / EXPERIENCE


 Qualified CA
 Basic industry knowledge and strong accounting knowledge.
 Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
 MS Office knowledge (Word, Excel) required
 Willingness to learn and apply new concepts

 Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
 Accuracy and attention to detail
