Job Description

Tax analyzes and supports the activities, operations, reporting obligations and transactions of the firm’s business lines to ensure that tax consequences and reputational risks are evaluated appropriately. We’re a team of specialists charged with managing the firm’s worldwide taxes. We are responsible for tax compliance, financial reporting of taxes, tax planning, business advisory and management of taxing authority examinations. Our work contributes directly to the firm’s success, and the division is ideal for creative and collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail.

An opportunity has arisen for a tax professional to manage the tax affairs of Petershill Partners plc (“Petershill” or “the Company”). Petershill is a diversified, publicly listed, global alternatives investment group focused on private equity and other private capital strategies. The Company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is operated by the firm’s Asset Management division, with oversight from the firm’s CF&O functions.

This newly created role will involve managing all aspects of the Company’s tax affairs, including financial statement reporting, U.S. and U.K. tax compliance, as well as US and international tax planning and advisory.

The position will be overseen by the Petershill CFO team in the Asset Management division and senior members of the Global Tax division. The role will involve significant interaction with the Company’s external service providers (accounting firms, law firms, fund administrators), external auditors, as well as CF&O functions within the firm.

The Company is governed by a diverse and fully independent Board and the position will also involve reporting to the Board on tax matters.

The role will also involve overseeing the tax affairs of additional structured funds that will be launched by the firm’s Asset Management division.

Required qualifications, experience and skills

  • Professionally qualified – CPA – with strong base of technical US tax knowledge
  • Minimum 8 years post-qualification tax experience at a leading accounting firm
  • Significant tax financial reporting experience, including the impact of book/tax differences and financial statement disclosures
  • In-depth knowledge of fund structures and fund and corporate tax compliance (U.S. Federal, state and international)
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with multiple stakeholders, including internal and external service providers
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills with an ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Flexible and able to learn quickly
  • Highly motivated team player able to work in a fast-paced environment

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Jersey City, New Jersey, United States-based position is $115000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
