Data Governance is a strategic focus of Goldman Sachs, and you will be a key addition to the GSBE engineering team and responsible for Data Governance in GSBE, working closely with the senior management in GSBE and the firmwide Data Governance Program.
Your impact:
As GSBE's Data Governance Officer you will be responsible for the Data Governance program in GSBE. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the ability to understand and navigate the firm’s global engineering operating model, engage with stakeholders on all levels in the divisions and firmwide data governance to ensure GSBEs Data Governance goals are achieved. Strong communication skills, ability to deliver a complex program in a federated environment and knowledge on local regulations and regulatory expectations will be critical for your success.
Role and Responsibilities
- Data Governance Framework Development and Implementation:
- Develop and maintain the bank's data governance framework, policies, and standards, aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Define data ownership and stewardship responsibilities.
- Establish data quality metrics and monitoring processes.
- Develop and implement data governance training programs for bank staff.
- Data Policy and Standards Management:
- Create, update, and maintain data policies, standards, and procedures covering data lifecycle management, data security, data privacy, and data quality.
- Ensure policies are clearly documented, communicated, and consistently applied across the organization.
- Monitor policy adherence and report on compliance.
- Data Quality Management:
- Define and implement data quality rules and standards.
- Monitor data quality metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with data owners and stewards to remediate data quality issues.
- Develop and implement data quality dashboards and reports.
- Data Compliance and Regulatory Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with relevant data regulations, including GDPR, PSD2, MiFID II, and Basel III.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Support data-related regulatory reporting requirements.
- Conduct data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) as needed.
- Data Ownership and Stewardship:
- Identify and assign data owners and data stewards for key data domains.
- Provide guidance and support to data owners and stewards in fulfilling their responsibilities.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between data owners and stewards.
- Data Issue Management:
- Establish a process for identifying, tracking, and resolving data-related issues.
- Investigate data incidents and breaches and implement corrective actions.
- Escalate data governance issues to senior management as needed.
- Stakeholder Management and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with various stakeholders across the bank, including IT, Compliance, Risk Management, and business units.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders and promote data governance awareness.
- Participate in data governance committees and working groups.
- Data Architecture and Technology Alignment:
- Work with data architects to ensure that data governance requirements are incorporated into data architecture designs.
- Evaluate and recommend data governance tools and technologies.
- Support the implementation of data governance technology solutions.
- Data Lineage and Metadata Management:
- Establish and maintain data lineage documentation to track data flows and transformations.
- Manage metadata to provide a clear understanding of data assets.
- Utilize metadata management tools to support data discovery and understanding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration, Finance).
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
- Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies and standards.
- Knowledge of relevant data regulations, including GDPR, Basel III, and other EU
- directives.
- Experience with data quality management techniques and tools.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with data governance tools and technologies (e.g., data catalogs, data lineage tools, data quality tools) is a plus.
Familiarity with banking operations and data requirements is highly desirable.
