Global Banking & Markets - Private Dept-Relationship Lending Group — Senior Associate / Vice President Dallas
Customer Service
Dallas, WV, USA
The Opportunity
At Goldman Sachs, the Relationship Lending Group (RLG) serves as a fundamental step in the firm's approach to the relationship-based lending business. By underwriting, structuring, executing, and advising on a wide array of transactions that require the firm's capital commitment, RLG ensures the smooth facilitation of financial solutions ranging from unsecured and secured revolvers — including asset-based lending (ABL), borrowing base, and reserve-based lending (RBL) facilities — to term loans, bridge loans, delayed draw term loans, and letter of credit facilities. These transactions span primary loan syndication, refinancing, amendments, secondary market purchases, and bilateral lending.
Collaboration is central to the RLG role; team members will regularly coordinate with other banks' syndication desks, clients/borrowers, external legal counsel, and a broad spectrum of internal teams such as Investment Banking, Investment Grade Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Legal, and Credit Risk Management.
We are specifically seeking a senior member of the team with extensive knowledge of and background in the Natural Resources sector — including energy, oil & gas (upstream, midstream, downstream), power and renewables, metals and mining, and related industries — to help deepen the group's sector expertise and support the firm's natural resources client franchise.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Associate/Vice President who is commercially minded, technically sharp, and ready to take ownership of the front-to-back execution process. You will serve as a senior member of the team — helping to drive transactions from inception to close, serving as a resource to junior members of the team, and acting as a trusted point of contact for internal partners and external counterparties alike.
- Drive deal execution: Support the structuring, underwriting, and closing of relationship-based lending transactions — including revolving credit facilities, asset-based lending (ABL), borrowing base and reserve-based lending (RBL) facilities, term loans, delayed draw term loans, bridge financings, and letter of credit facilities — across primary syndication, refinancings, amendments, and bilateral lending, with particular emphasis on Natural Resources sector transactions.
- Leadership on Transactions: Manage multiple simultaneous deals at various stages, coordinating across Investment Banking coverage teams, Investment Grade Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Legal, and Credit Risk Management. You will be expected to identify and resolve issues proactively, escalating significant matters to senior management with clear recommendations.
- Engage with external counterparties: Communicate and negotiate with syndication banks, borrowers, and external legal counsel. You will represent the firm in documentation negotiations and help shape commercial terms that protect Goldman Sachs while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Shape the portfolio strategy: Leverage your day-to-day knowledge of your deal flow into analytical take ways for senior management. Provide guidance and review analytics, presentations, and portfolio reporting for senior management and key internal stakeholders. Your analysis will directly inform capital allocation decisions and help the team identify commercial opportunities within the existing book.
- Add commercial value: Contribute ideas on how to deepen client relationships through lending and help position the RLG as a strategic partner to coverage bankers and their clients.

- Strong technical skillset with experience in financial modeling, including experience with capital structures and covenant frameworks
