Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in system-level power electronics design.
  • Experience in electronic systems design, bring up and debugging processes, power circuit components, electric specifications, selection, power loss modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with power circuits validation requirements and creating validation plans.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Power Electronics or a related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in power conversion design for consumer electronics (e.g., battery charging, USB-PD adapter, wireless charging).
  • Experience in wireless charging design and WPC-Qi specification.
  • Knowledge of power converter modeling and simulation, electromagnetic modeling, analysis and simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of on-board power conversion design for consumer electronics battery charging applications.
  • Excellent team player, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

About the job

In this role, you will play a key role in creating new and better charging experiences for Google hardware products that meets performance and reliability standards. You will work closely with the product management and cross-functional Engineering teams to define solutions, implement hardware and polish the feature integration with software/Android Operating System teams.

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $119,000-$175,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

  • Work with cross-functional Hardware, Software and Systems teams to define, implement and integrate battery charging (wired/wireless) hardware solutions to meet product battery charging requirements.
  • Define and develop detailed circuit/analytic models for optimizing charging efficiency, reduce charging time and improve charging thermal performance.
  • Define, develop and optimize magnetic components for charging such as wireless charging coils using electro-mechanical parts/analytic modeling and simulation tools.
  • Create a hardware power testing plan, validate the charging hardware system and work with cross-functional teams for system validation in products.
  • Drive implementation of innovative new power solutions for charging features across hardware and software to provide a better experience. Validate and certify the charging solution for standard compliance.
