Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • Experience developing device drivers or low-level hardware support for GPUs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience writing shader and low-level graphics API code.

Pixel Graphics System Software enables everything from simple low-power animations to rich UI, high-end games, and on-device image processing make the best use of the Pixel phones' distinctive GPU hardware.

Our team also supports GPU bring-up for new devices, works with partner and vendor teams to investigate graphics anomalies and slow performance, and comes up with innovative ways to use the GPU as part of a tightly-integrated device package.

As a member of our GPU driver team, in addition to supporting existing devices and new Android versions and GPU APIs, you will boost power/performance for interactive apps on Pixel GPUs, take advantage of hardware features of Google SoCs, and opportunities for future silicon that will improve the customer experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $133,000-$194,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Help the Pixel Graphics System Software team identify, triage, and fix graphics driver issues and develop new driver features.
  • Work with Google Silicon teams, Pixel system architecture, and power teams to implement software support for a tightly-integrated GPU/SoC integration.
  • Work with Android platform teams, Pixel product management, and first-party application developers across Google to identify, prioritize, and optimize application workloads.
