Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Economics, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management, greenhouse gas, and environmental metrics accounting or lifecycle assessment.
  • Experience with the GHG Protocol and other environmental standards, and a variety of methodologies (e.g. Economic Input-Output).
  • Experience with stakeholder management and executive engagement.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience driving or implementing greenhouse gas data solutions and supporting integration of third-party tools, or the development of internal tools.
  • Experience in scaling GHG accounting and estimating inventories in a corporate setting.
  • Experience with environmental metrics accounting other than GHG (e.g. waste).
  • Experience leading teams or groups of stakeholders, and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent written communication, verbal, and people skills to clearly communicate technical concepts with multiple cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • High-sense of collaboration, organization, and oriented towards execution.

The Environmental Metrics Accounting Lead is responsible for Google’s corporate environmental metrics accounting program, and is part of Google’s Environmental Accounting Center of Expertise. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end program, adapting and evolving the current process to meet new internal and external requirements, including improved process and controls, accelerated timeline, and requirements coming from global current and future regulations (starting with greenhouse gas emissions). You will work in close partnership with a number of internal teams to lead and execute the program annually with data owners across the organization

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000-$246,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead Google’s annual corporate environmental metric accounting program, including Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint, water footprint, and other relevant environmental metrics.
  • Evolve Google’s GHG and other environmental metrics accounting practices to meet current and upcoming requirements (regulatory, voluntary, and internal).
  • Lead implementation of the regulatory readiness program in partnership with business data teams, ESG-Controllership, Finance Transformation, and the Sustainability Data Infrastructure teams, to ensure that we meet regulatory requirements globally, on time.
  • Support data infrastructure deployment by lending subject matter expertise and ensuring automated data processes meet financial accounting standards and requirements.
