Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical or Optomechanical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience designing or working with display modules.
  • Experience with display technologies especially mobile organic light-emitting diode (OLED).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical or Optomechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with designing, characterizing, or integrating display modules on glass and/or plastic substrates.
  • Experience with high-speed display interfaces (e.g., Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI), DisplayPort, and HDMI).
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and use basic hardware and optical debugging tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrophotometers, etc.).
  • Ability to program in Python, MATLAB, or C.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

About the job

Our team works on display modules for high-volume first-party devices. We work with display vendors, internal and external product development, software, mechanical, optical, and electrical/system engineers. Our team has a significant impact on user-visible features of strategic products.

In this role, you will be responsible for working across disciplines (e.g., optical, mechanical, electrical, thermal, product) to deliver display modules. You will collaborate closely with internal and external engineers on designs from initial specification definition and architecture selection for prototype development potentially through manufacturing process development and shipment.

This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$212,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, Software, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop and deliver diagonal display modules for first-party systems (e.g., phones).
  • Deliver all electrical aspects of a display module, from specification to production ramp.
  • Test, characterize, and debug display modules on hardware in the lab.
  • Conduct design and review, power modeling, optimization, and characterization, display drive scheme development and optimization, display driver IC register settings, and other support and debugging/optimizing all electrical engineering related display module issues.
