Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience as a technical program manager, including 3 years of experience in the manufacturing industry

Preferred qualifications:

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

As a Sustaining Technical Program Manager, you will be the cornerstone of operations communication with technical cross-functional teams in the sustaining/mass production process. You will guide a team of professionals to ensure products are designed and built to Google’s standards. You will work in a fast-moving environment, as you work with teams to solve problems that hinder production line operations to improve the quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the operations technical lead for consumer hardware products from Ramp through End of Life (EOL); identify and ensure ongoing technical risks are identified and mitigated or resolved
  • Manage the operations side for line layout, line bring up, fixture buy off, and line qualifications for ramp up
  • Drive Surface Mount Technology/Final Assembly, Test and Pack (SMT/FATP) assembly and automation process improvement, and responsible for cost and scrap reduction and end to end yield improvement
  • Review and fine tune assembly fixture Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to ensure quality and productivity
  • Lead cross-functional teams, Contract Manufacturers (CMs), and suppliers to conduct production and field failure analysis, Design of Experiment (DOE), control run, data analysis, and to provide final results/recommendations
