Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

About the job

The Pixel Power Management Software team leads creating and supporting software solutions to manage, measure, and monitor Pixel device power along with detection, attribution, and mitigation of power issues to improve battery life for Pixel devices and by extension the Android ecosystem for a great end user experience with battery life.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to work on additional projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems as we continue to push technology forward.

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.


The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $157,000-$235,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and support software solutions and tools for Pixel power management and power optimization.
  • Lead efforts in design, development, and support for advanced power optimization software/firmware for Pixel (Android) Kernel.
  • Prioritize optimization for power, latency, and system stability.
  • Debug and triage power issues.
  • Develop and support test-suites to detect power regression and system stability during power state transitions.
