Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Acoustics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied mechanics, Engineering Science, Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with acoustics components (e.g., loudspeaker or microphone).
- Experience with applied audio/voice/acoustic measurement on related domain thesis, topics, or papers.
- Experience with acoustic simulation tools (e.g., Comsol, Matlab).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Acoustics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 1 year of experience in audio consumer products development.
- Experience with consumer hardware, tablet, phone products, laptops, or smart speakers.
- Experience with audio hardware tools such as soundcheck, audio precision, or Klippel.
- Experience with voice quality measurement by using Acqua system.
- Knowledge of speaker and microphone component acoustic fundamental theory.
About the job
In this role, you will develop custom hardware solutions, integrate them into the system. You will be responsible for the user-facing performance. You will collaborate closely with Software Engineering and Algorithm teams within Google Nest and cross-product areas, including assistant, Cloud, and more.
The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Nest team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for loudspeaker and microspeaker transducer selection, design optimization and microphone component selection, and microphone system integration.
- Work on audio engineering product requirements and system specification, audio Final Assembly Test and Pack (FATP) Manufacturing coordination, Failure Analysis, and yield control.
- Collaborate with different cross functional teams such as Product Design, Hardware Electrical Engineer, Reliability Engineer and Software Engineer for improving audio quality.
