Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in a hardware engineering role.
  • Experience with RF standards and wireless design (e.g., Cellular and associated board-level and firmware/system debugging).
  • Experience using RF test equipment (e.g., signaling/non-signaling tester, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with cellular wireless systems for consumer electronics, including direct prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support.
  • Experience with PCB design and EM simulation tools for RF circuits.
  • Experience with Python or other software languages for test automation and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of RF test equipment LTE/5G call box, UXM, CMW500, MT8000.
  • Familiarity with 3GPP conformance/regulatory requirements and certification process.

Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

With your technical expertise, you lead projects in multiple areas of expertise (i.e., engineering domains or systems) within a data center facility, including construction and equipment installation/troubleshooting/debugging with vendors.

As an Cellular RF Hardware Engineer within the Nest team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating high quality wireless subsystems for the wide variety of Google Nest next generation products. You will be a member of our team of RF engineers, working directly with the product hardware.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Nest team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate cellular subsystems and front-end architecture then implement products. Use EM simulation for initial performance/isolation prediction.
  • Optimize and debug through all performance (hardware/software tuning, Linearity, MIMO TPUT) from prototype to mass production.
  • Execute and verify wireless test plans to ensure the consistent, high performing products that customers expect.
  • Attend factory production meetings and collaborate with counterparts to help on validation and test issue debugging.
  • Attend business trips for project bringup and lab/factory onsite debugging if needed.
