Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in software development with any of the following programming languages such as Java, C++ or C.
  • Experience working on smart home based services or cloud, or infrastructure.
  • Experience with distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working on a Smart Home based service.
  • Experience with full-stack distributed systems.
  • Excellent technical skills in design, programming, debugging and production management.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and active listening skills.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Nest team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Align smart home services through technical execution across multiple Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers to transform the technical goal to reality.
  • Align services, technical execution across multiple peers, engineers and teams.
  • Lead designs and improve development processes of software components, systems, and features. Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
  • Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
