Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Computer Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in software engineering, including experience with web services or mobile client software.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in Release Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Proficiency in large-scale system design, algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design, and/or expertise in Unix/Linux systems, IP networking, performance, and application issues.
- Ability to do technical analyses of code, networking, operating systems and storage and actively participate in strategy discussions with Google’s executive team.
About the job
As the, Vice President of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for Knowledge and Information (K&I) organization, you will apply engineering leadership and knowledge of infrastructure and software development to drive scalable and reliable software systems for Google’s product family. You will ensure the highest standards for resilience, safety, and user oriented engineering are upheld.
In this role, you will lead the development and execution of the Reliability strategy for products (i.e., Google Search, the Ads portfolio, Geo, and Commerce). The systems which support these products are crucial to Google’s global business. As such, it is critical that they operate reliably 24x7, and have sufficient capacity and operate efficiently. Challenging technical issues that impact detection, remediation, and prevention of disruptions appear and must be quickly addressed without unduly affecting publishers or advertisers.

The US base salary for this full-time position is $550,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
