Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience in software engineering or product development.
  • 15 years of experience building software products or infrastructure.
  • 5 years of experience leading globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Experience producing distributed systems and delivery within timelines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in creating roadmaps balancing engineering resources and business goals.
  • Experience in identity, privacy, safety, or security domains, and leading cross-functional engineering projects.
  • Experience collaborating and influencing other teams' directions and roadmaps.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and inter-dependencies of planet-scale infrastructure.
  • Ability to provide clarity and alignment across the organization on goals, outcomes, and timelines.

About the job

As an Engineering Director for YouTube Application Infrastructure, you will lead the teams responsible for the evolution and expansion of this core area. You will also be responsible for privacy and compliance, which is critical to keep users' trust and YouTube's long-term business sustainability.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $271,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Create and evolve foundational long-term strategies for YouTube wide Application Infrastructure.
  • Formulate technical outcomes in collaboration with cross-functional partners and leads across the company.
  • Lead impactful privacy and compliance projects for YouTube, collaborate and align with privacy and compliance teams across Core, Search, Ads, and Workspace.
  • Grow current and future technical leaders on the team to help scale to an expanding set of YouTube businesses.
  • Publish and incorporate perspectives from company level forums and the executive leadership to consistently land high-visibility infrastructure roadmaps.
