Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C or C++ programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with working with Linux and embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • Experience with Linux Kernel and Linux Drivers.
  • Experience in interfaces such as USB and Ethernet.
  • Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
  • Experience working and influencing design from application level down to the hardware.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop Software features to support Chromebooks interfaces, such as: USB (including USB4), Thunderbolt, Ethernet, Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe), DP and more.
  • Improve the overall health of Chromebooks interfaces, including implementation of an automation environment and tests.
  • Engage with partners and vendors to debug kernel, user-space and firmware issues. Communicate regularly with partners and project managers to set goals and keep projects on track.
  • Enable consumer and enterprise peripherals (camera, monitors, docking stations and more) to work smoothly with Chromebooks and bring up new USB/Ethernet chip sets to meet Chromebook product requirements.
  • Study how Chromebooks (ChromeOS) work, looking into Linux kernel and user-space. Understanding of ChromeOS, identify and fix problems in the firmware, kernel, and user-space.
