Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, in the Consumer Electronics, Auto, OEMs, Telecom, E-Commerce/Retail, Apps, Ads, Gaming, or Technology industries.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Experience in providing recommendations and strategy within APAC region for payment acceptance or e-commerce.
  • Experience managing negotiations with Financial Institutions/Fintechs/Payment Providers, around enablement of payment services in APAC.
  • Experience with technical/operational/regulatory requirements in the payment acceptance flow.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of APAC payment processing regulations, operating rules, and standard agreement terms.
  • Ability to derive actionable insights from large payment processing datasets, leading to process optimization with partners.
  • Ability to grasp complex business and technical requirements, assess cross-functional impacts, and evaluate new opportunities with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to grow in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with shifting priorities and cross-timezone collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels, both within Google and across diverse partner organizations.

About the job

Google's Payments Platform powers billions of transactions across our products (e.g., AdWords, Play, Cloud, etc.). Our Payments Partnership team builds strategic relationships to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and secure commerce experience for all Google users.

As a Strategic Partner Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Legal, etc.) to manage partnerships with key players in the payments ecosystem to support our payment transaction processing for all Google products and services. You will own management of these partnerships, and advocate on behalf of Google to engage with business, industry and regulatory leaders to optimize Google's payment processes, ensuring seamless user experiences while driving sustainability for compliance, innovation in scalability and efficiency across the industry.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Guide Google product teams on APAC payments best practices, potential partners, industry regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of partnership development, including leading Request for Informations (RFIs), Request for Proposal (RFPs), and agreement negotiations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for resolving complex partner escalations (e.g., financial, operational, technical, regulatory, etc.). Analyze partner scorecards, metrics, and assessments to drive continuous improvement.
  • Represent Google in strategic dialogues with partners, networks, issuers, acquirers, and regulators to enhance processing capabilities, compliance, and market sustainability.
  • Identify industry improvements across the APAC payments landscape. Shape partner strategy to align with Google's product roadmap and emerging trends. Build strong internal partnerships across Google to develop a holistic, comprehensive partnership strategy.
