Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them.
  • 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in broad policy in the tech sector or the key issues impacting the Web, like intellectual property, free expression, Internet access and online safety.
  • Experience in high-pressure settings, demonstrating good judgment in crises.
  • Ability to work with people from a broad range of backgrounds and experience, such as leading campaigns and mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Ability to think, plan, self start and execute large projects.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead public policy campaigns across the full range of policy areas that impact Google and the web.
  • Represent Google's interests by engaging directly with policymakers, industry players, think tanks, and key opinion formers.
  • Work with Legal, Communications, Marketing, and other teams across Google both locally and internationally to execute outreach programs on policy priorities.
  • Build and drive a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other stakeholders to support policies that will help create or maintain a user-focused online environment and an open Internet.
  • Advise internal teams on the public policy implications of their products, collaborating effectively with a cross-functional global team.
