About the job
As a Firmware Engineer in Modem Reliability Engineering, you'll focus on carrier feature development/customization, integration, issue debugging/fixing and performance enhancement for modem Call performance and quality on Android devices, working closely with Pixel software teams and chipset vendors. You'll be the point of contact for all debugging, analyzing and fixing modem Call issues from carrier certifications, field testing and customers. You'll also be responsible for validating the function and performance of Call features for Pixel projects to guarantee the modem software quality.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to expand your domain knowledge vertically (from PHY to NAS/AS/IMS) and understand the modem from the viewpoint of the system, and be encouraged to propose your innovative and practical ideas to optimize engineering efficiency and software quality for the modem.

Responsibilities
- Develop and customize modem software to achieve customer and project requirements in Call Features and Call Performance domain.
- Analyze and fix the modem protocol issues from field tests, carrier certifications and carriers to enhance the call quality and Call Performance/KPIs to meet the customer’s commercial product requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-layer teams (e.g., PHY/AS/NAS/IMS) and cross-organization teams (e.g., Android Software, TPM/TAM and Hardware) to deliver high quality Pixel modem Software.
- Generate ideas, develop features, build Software/Hardware systems or improve engineering processes to help the engineering efficiency and product quality.
