Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in UX Design.
  • 3 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in Trust and Safety on online safety Issues for consumer products, Child safety issue, Identity (Online Safety space).
  • Experience designing internal tooling or other enterprise software products.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple locations and time-zones, and leading small teams of designers working towards a common goal.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate interaction concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences across organizational levels.

About the job

The team is responsible for defining and enforcing safety standards that ensure content and behaviors that cause user or societal harm do not degrade the quality of the product and the community it supports. The team is also tasked with building out the infrastructure, experiences, and support systems used to keep YouTube safe, and work with various groups at Google to help make a safer web for everyone.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Understand the business needs and operating environment of Trust and Safety to develop product strategies and roadmaps that allow the team to achieve safety at scale.
  • Grow a design team while setting new standards in execution excellence, and partner with the UX Research team to identify high impact gaps in knowledge.
  • Advocate for the efforts of the team, and collaborate across YouTube Trust and Safety, YouTube UX, and Google Trust and Safety to find alignment opportunities and improve products.
  • Collaborate with the Product Management and Engineering Leaders within YouTube Trust and Safety to make tradeoffs to get the experiences built.
  • Build relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside of YouTube, to drive user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed.
