Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g. SQL).
- 1 year of experience managing analytical projects.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in scripting, statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS), developing and managing metrics, and evaluating programs/products.
- 1 year of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience working and communicating in areas with significant leadership and stakeholder scrutiny.
- Distinctive problem-solving skills and impeccable business judgment.
- Capable of translating analysis results into business recommendations through strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good in articulating product questions, pulling data from large datasets (SQL, BigQuery or equivalent technologies), and using statistics to arrive at an answer.

As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.
Our Data Science team blends research and product expertise to take on complex challenges. We leverage a mix of theoretical and practical knowledge in advanced statistical, machine learning techniques, predictive modeling, human eval, experimentation, forecasting, exploratory analysis, and more to drive data-informed innovation, unlock opportunities, and enhance user experiences within Chrome.
Chrome is a consumer-facing product with users, and metrics are a key part of making decisions about Chrome. In this role, your work will have tremendous impact throughout Chrome, as you have an opportunity to work with the many teams that use our systems to gate features and understand users.

Responsibilities
- Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Format, re-structure, and validate data to ensure quality.
- Prioritize and communicate user needs, make recommendations, and drive implementation for product or process changes. Identify and prioritize challenges and key strategic growth opportunities.
- Manage workload to maximize impact, prioritize multiple concurrent projects, and refine timelines with stakeholders as needed.
- Analyze chrome clients, usage, trends, and relevant dimensions to provide insights on changing dynamics (e.g., device characteristics, platforms).
- Deliver on difficult analytical problems with initial guidance structuring the approach.
