Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 14 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • 10 years of experience in location strategy of projects.
  • Experience with any of the following: site selection for high-technology, industrial-scale projects, real estate evaluation, acquisition, development, and construction.
  • Experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree in Real Estate, Business Management, or Finance.
  • CPA, or other relevant professional certification.
  • Experience leading scalable cross-functional programs.
  • Knowledge of power transmission and distribution systems, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technologies, and the requirements for industrial-scale development projects.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

About the job

As a Data Center Location Strategy Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping Google's global infrastructure by identifying optimal locations for our growing data centers. You'll leverage your understanding of location strategy, power development, and the real estate industry to conduct thorough market analyses, considering factors like energy availability, cost, political landscape, and sustainability. You will develop and execute long-term location strategies, build compelling business cases for executive review, and structure strategic decisions for Google's infrastructure portfolio. This includes analyzing our existing assets and recommending adjustments to optimize for efficiency and scalability. You'll also be a strong communicator, effectively conveying complex information to diverse audiences, including executive leadership. As a leader and mentor, you'll foster collaboration, provide coaching, and establish efficient decision-making frameworks within your team. Ultimately, you will shape Google's business strategy through strategic data center location planning.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $208,000-$296,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Guide the team to achieve organizational goals by setting clear priorities and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Anticipate future trends and challenges in data center location strategy, proactively developing innovative solutions and integrating them into current operations.
  • Determine strategic direction globally by evaluating and communicating the location and economic implications of ground up development, strategic partnerships and infrastructure heavy investments that enable data center use.
  • Assist your peers in refining portfolio planning and asset investment rubrics to enable assets for data center development/use, by analyzing different options and what-if analyses that make recommendations considering all perspectives and business impact.
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback to team members, supporting their individual development and empowering them to deliver concise, executive-level plans and long-term strategies.
