Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in back-office, business, customer support, marketing, or consulting.
  • Experience in using email, spreadsheet software, docs, slides at work (e.g., sales assistant, operations).
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese fluently in order to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a paralegal or similar experience.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously and execute these projects efficiently.
  • Ability to draft and review legal documents, analyze legal advice and apply legal advice to business needs.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently in order to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and grow in a legal environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

About the job

The gReach Program is a paid 12 months upskilling program for industry professionals with disabilities where participants will receive on-the-job-training and work on a range of projects. The goal of the gReach program is to provide participants from underrepresented groups with the opportunity to grow their career as professionals.

Google Legal lets you take on unanswered legal quandaries and create new precedents. Our innovative services raise challenging questions that demand creative and practical answers. We provide those answers by working at the crossroads of the law and new technology, helping Google build innovative and important, and responsible products for users around the world.

The Japan Legal team provides local legal support to Google and the central Legal team in ever developing areas of Internet law/information and Technology law. We work with the local Business team to handle agreements that require local support. Additionally, we work with the global and regional Legal team, providing law/language input and feedback on local escalations. We also support U.S. teams in litigation matters in front of Japan courts and provide legal input to cross-functional teams in Japan.

As a legal specialist, you will play a role in supporting various legal matters and administrative matters, working collaboratively with colleagues across different teams. You will manage simultaneous projects on a variety of legal matters and wherever needed to help your team. You have specialized legal knowledge and a bias toward action, getting things done which will influence some of the most defining legal cases in the information age

Responsibilities

  • Manage information and documentation of low-risk/complexity within team/case/project, with the opportunity to create a more efficient management process/system.
  • Investigate, escalate and respond to consumer complaints and small claims complaints, under the guidance of executive team members.
  • Support other areas of Legal Operations, including managing outside counsel expenses, budgets, and alternative fee arrangements.
  • Support low-risk/complexity legal reviews and due diligence of Google's product, marketing, business, and governance documentation and initiatives.
  • Translate English agreements, with the opportunity to review, draft and negotiate English agreements, under the guidance of executive team members.
