Who You'll Work With

You’ll be based in Shanghai and will work with McKinsey Knowledge Center China (McKC China) and R&I Geographic Research Team.

What You'll Do

You’ll be responsible for providing research support to consulting teams worldwide looking at the Chinese market. 
In this role, you’ll have to articulate, scope, and prioritize research needs, and identify and gather relevant company, industry, and economic information using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources.  You’ll be in charge of conducting interviews with regulators and companies and share insights. You will provide synthesis and practical implications within tight deadlines via end products in the form of single exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs, and spreadsheets. 
Lastly, you’ll also have the chance to leverage internal and external networks, engage in team problem solving, share evolving business trends and best practices, and contribute to knowledge creation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduate/post-graduate degree in statistics, economics, management, media, mathematics; MBA with strong quantitative background is a plus 
  • Up to 2 years of work experience in marketing and sales related functions is a plus
  • Solid understanding of marketing and sales-related knowledge as well as economic, financial and general business concepts and terminology
  • Statistical programming software experience is a plus
  • Experience in conducting business or academic research 
  • Modeling techniques to handle data in large volumes
  • Comprehensive computer skills including database searching, power point, word processing, spreadsheet analysis and online research 
  • Good people skills, team orientation, and professional
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin (both oral and written)
