Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Prague office as part of our Client Capabilities Network (CCN). You will work closely with local team colleagues with whom you will be collaborating daily. Additionally, you will interact with a wide range of analysts from the EMEA region. 
Your focus will be on providing research and coverage on a wide range of topics for the Czech Republic region. Within the team, you will be a part of the capability providing insights on market including macro economy, public and private sector. McKinsey leaders will provide sponsorship and mentor you to build your capabilities.
Over 7,000 McKinsey client capabilities professionals across the globe work alongside our consultants to deliver Change that Matters to our clients. They collaborate with consultant teams, both remotely and at client sites, in an agile and targeted way. Further, they are core to our firm’s R&D, development of new knowledge, building of proprietary capabilities as assets and data sets. Our portfolio includes state-of-the-art research, data-backed rapid diagnostics, benchmarking, and workflow support. The professionals have deep expertise and apply a broad range of methodologies to address specialized on-demand analyses.

What You'll Do

You will leverage a solid understanding of trends, issues, and concepts primarily in the insurance sector and in other financial services to efficiently respond to complex research questions by delivering synthesized, actionable facts and insights to our consulting teams and clients. You will develop macroeconomic and industry knowledge and expertise including general perspective and sub-sectors detailed view.
You will also have the opportunity to work alongside senior knowledge professionals on larger client projects and internal knowledge initiatives. By collecting and analyzing data and information found in databases and/or other primary and secondary research tools, you will assemble a fact base, counsel consultants and clients on the scope of business and economic trends surrounding the issue, and provide insights and analysis for solving client problems at hand. Your work will primarily focus on the Czech and Slovak markets.
Your day-to-day tasks may include identifying the key issues facing our clients and determining the most appropriate solution while effectively balancing quality, availability, timeliness, and cost factors. You’ll likely perform a variety of analyses such as benchmarking, trend identification, opportunity scanning, etc., in order to add value to problem-solving discussions. You’ll also provide synthesis, insights and client implications within tight deadlines via end products in the form of PowerPoint documents, written memos, models in Excel and frameworks. In time, you will also participate in, and eventually lead, internal knowledge development and capability-building initiatives, and use advanced analytics tools to prepare and analyze large datasets to distill insights.
There is flexibility to hire at the Analyst or Senior Analyst level, depending on candidate experience.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in economics, finance, business, econometrics or related field 
  • 2+ years of relevant post-graduate work experience
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively in Czech and/or Slovak and English
  • Solid understanding of financial, economic and general business concepts and terminology
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of the insurance sector and broader financial services sector
  • Understanding of the Czech and Slovak Insurance and banking markets
  • Ability to analyze and calculate insurance KPIs (e.g., GWP, combined ratio claims-expense, and more) on a company and market level is a plus
  • Proficiency in financial reporting standards of insurers and banks
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated relevant research experience in an academic or business setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced) and PowerPoint (intermediate)
  • Ability to work well in a team setting and across all levels within an organization
  • Ability to accomplish work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
