Professional Development Specialist
Who You'll Work With
As part of our Staffing & Professional Development team in our Paris office, you will work closely with consultants, partners, and other team members while supporting our consultants’ professional development. Reporting to the Director of People of our France Office, you will work in a fast-paced multicultural environment in which you are in constant exchange with McKinsey offices around the world.
You will be in charge of staffing engagements for one or two sectors, and you will provide guidance in the staffing process to our leaders and consultants to uphold our dual mission - finding the right team for our clients & develop our exceptional people in their consultant lifecycle.
What You'll Do
You will build a strong, trust-based relationship with consultants including an in-depth understanding of professional aspirations, experience, strengths, development needs and relevant personal skills.
You will also develop trust-based relationships with the local leadership and support them in considering, identifying, and accessing the right staffing pools to set-up their right team, for a given study, that brings the best of our firm to our clients.
You will ensure consultants are appropriately allocated to teams and you will monitor each consultant's development, career progression and other people-oriented topics and organize reviews together with the Paris professional development team and will participate to committees. You will be part of local onboarding process and integration and will provide counsel on training and work closely with the Learning team to ensure consultants receive timely and appropriate training.
You will work closely with partners and engagement managers to ensure that consultants receive timely and required development opportunities while reflecting needs in client service and play an active role in the animation of the consultants’ cohort you will be responsible for and in collaboration with the leadership in charge of that cohort.
You will report and manage the information flow in the required systems and lead analysis and reporting of key staffing and professional development metrics for local office leadership.
You will also work and assume responsibility on a variety of ad hoc as well as special projects surfaced by your professional development leader and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent
- 8+ years of professional development experience (in an international environment)
- Strong interest and experience in professional development and people issues
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills to gather, visualize, and analyze professional development/HR related facts in great details
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching and team skills; ability to build great relationships with consultants, partners, and international colleagues
- Outstanding communication (fluency in French and English)
- Exceptional organizational and administrative skills, ability to coordinate multiple workstreams proactively and independently, manage and prioritize multiple tasks, even under pressure
- High level of drive, initiative, leadership and judgment
- Positive, open, and flexibility to work in a fast moving and changing environment
