Who You'll Work With

McKinsey’s Technology & Digital (T&D) function develops technology solutions internal to the firm. You will be based in our San Jose office and you’ll be part of a team that is responsible to deliver technology enabled solutions of the future. This will involve all business value chain activities from understanding product needs to product development to on-going maintenance and enhancement.
In addition to working within Technology & Digital, you will collaborate closely with McKinsey’s Global Firm Engagement Team, our 'in-house agency' that crafts editorial stories, interactive modules, microsites, emails and other experiences designed to connect, engage and delight our audience of ~40,000 colleagues around the globe.

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for the development, support, maintenance and implementation of enterprise applications that are scalable, resilient, and distributed. You would also be responsible for migrating existing solutions onto a public cloud and help adapt cloud native capabilities. You’ll solve complex problems through general usage of standard programming concepts and principles and application of your own judgment. You’ll be member of a squad that has the technical capability to develop and implement various components of an application from end to end.
You will contribute to the architecture across the technology stack, from database to native apps. You will design, build and deploy full-scale enterprise applications by working collaboratively and iteratively through design and development to deliver fully functional web-based and mobile applications that meet business goals. You’ll be a fully contributing team member, under broad guidance from architects and technology leaders.
This position requires solid knowledge of at least one development technology/ programming language. You’ll be expected to further build upon domain knowledge and technical/ proprietary skills to reach higher levels of expertise.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. in computer science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Front-End engineering
  • Experience with JQuery, Javascript, HTML5, SASS, CSS3 and LAMP Platform
  • Experience in building Applications using frameworks like Angular, Vue, or React
  • Hands-on knowledge in public cloud products, cloud-native architectures, serverless frameworks, Docker/Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with Git, Github and Pull Requests, and DevOps practices and tooling (E.g., CI/CD pipelines) using Github Actions
  • Responsible for documenting incidents and issues for communication and reference purposes
  • Exposure to Cloud technologies and relevant certifications in AWS or Azure preferred
  • Experience using agile methodologies on cross-functional teams, which include designers and engineers
  • Acquia certification or equivalent preferred
  • Past experience developing rich editorial features and products will be a plus
