Who You'll Work With

You will join the Global Benefits team comprised of professionals with expertise in pensions, insurance, wealth management and operations. The team designs and delivers the firm’s benefit platform and its underlying offerings to support holistic personal health and financial well-being of McKinsey colleagues across the globe. You will report directly into our Leader of Global Benefits, Pensions and Wealth Management. You will join one of our US offices (Boston, Chicago, Dallas or Houston).
McKinsey’s Global Benefits function is focused on enabling McKinsey’s business strategy and performance with offerings that attract, excite, and retain exceptional talent. We do this by delivering a uniquely tailored benefits platform to support holistic wellness of our people. As the Head of Global Pensions you will oversee the team that directly manages our U.S. plans and global pension governance processes, liaise and provide strategic guidance to our colleagues managing plans outside of the U.S. and collaborate with key functional internal partners, such as HR, finance and communications, and external vendors to deliver on our objectives. You will also be a member of the Global Benefits leadership team with responsibility to lead cross functional initiatives, cultivate team talent and contribute to overall function strategy.

What You'll Do

As a senior benefits leader with oversight for McKinsey’s pension plans across the globe for partners and non-partners, and related governance, you will:
  • develop and drive the evolution and execution of the firm’s pension strategy globally, bringing forward innovative ideas and best practices and ensuring that that vision continually delivers against firm priorities
  • oversee our 30+ global pension offerings in a principled and market-aware approach to match our colleagues’ diverse needs while also maintaining strong financial stewardship and risk management
  • oversee the Director of Pensions Administration who manages the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the U.S. retirement plans providing expertise, advice and guidance regarding program matters
  • ensure compliance with respect to all pertinent regulations such as Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
  • manage and further build ongoing business relationships with our external providers
  • be a student of pension practices in the markets in which we operate by leveraging data analysis, market competitive reviews, surveys, financial analysis, and relationships to continue to maintain best in class programs
  • rally support for, and drive execution of, large-scale initiatives with strong stakeholder management and execution skills
  • continue to evolve our pensions governance model and support and monitor our retirement committees’ compliance with the standard set by the firm; provide updates to firm governance committees as needed
  • partner with the broader Benefits, Finance and People teams to deliver the programing as a part of a larger comprehensive award offering and people value proposition
  • partner with our internal Communications team to develop a thoughtful communications strategy related to pensions to build strong, trusting relationships with colleagues at all levels and all locations, exciting our firm members around our offerings, and driving participation and value appreciation
  • build a strong team and provide a continual path of career development for team members

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in managing pensions across the globe in multi-national firms and related leadership expertise leading global organization programing
  • Exceptional intrinsic and working knowledge of developing, executing, and monitoring strategies in pensions and related fields such as investments, insurance and overall financial wellness
  • Ability to engage productively with senior leaders across geographies, including the ability to constructively challenge the status quo and solve problems
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, while driving towards clarity and solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated results in driving operational impact, bringing to bear a strong mix of strategic and execution skills, and a collaborative style that effectively challenges conventional wisdom, with the ability to make trade- offs
  • Exceptional leadership and operational capabilities, including positive track record of influencing for results and leading teams to overcome obstacles and drive change
  • Experience in a firm governed by a partnership or in a professional services firm preferred
  • Knowledge of key benefits and pension systems, services and product offerings across Americas, Europe, EEMA and Asia
  • Background in developing, deploying and evaluating communications programs to support the benefits strategy and foster greater understanding of benefit programs across all levels of employees
