Who You'll Work With
As a core member of the Japan office finance team, you’ll work closely with all functions that support office operations and have regular, direct interactions with both local and overseas partners. You’ll also work extensively with our shared service teams and other finance team members across the globe.
What You'll Do
You will work closely with a team of three other WIP/AR accountants and a manager, working directly with partners to support their ongoing engagements. This includes reviewing engagement budgets and submitting them for approval, reviewing WIP reports on a monthly basis to identify budget variances, monitoring our contingent arrangement portfolio, and drafting invoices for sending to clients, and following up on late/outstanding payments, maintaining compliance with our internal policies & US GAAP.
You will also be responsible for working with department managers to support their budget management, helping prepare the annual office budget, and preparing ad hoc analyses and reports that support the office leadership in managing the Japan office.

Qualifications
- University degree; advanced degree preferred
- Accounting qualification (such as Japanese Bookkeeping (Nissho Boki) Level 2 minimum or CPA)
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills developed through three to five years experience in a finance role, preferably in a professional services environment
- Excellent MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) with work experience in SAP S/4 HANA and Tableau an advantage
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute new ideas
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Customer-service focus, with a clear attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing
- Strong communication skills both in Japanese and English
