Capabilities & Insights Intern - Consumer
Who You'll Work With
You’ll work in a McKinsey Client Capability Hub in San Jose, Costa Rica as part of our global Capabilities & Insights team with the Consumer practice. You will work with the global Consumer practice as part of our Client Capabilities Network (CCN). Our global CCN includes more than 3,000 diverse professionals delivering distinctive client impact through assets and expertise, driven by a culture of innovation. You will also work with other practice and firm experts, specialists, researchers and analysts with expertise across the consumer sector. The consumer sector is one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic industry practices at the firm. It includes both consumer goods manufacturing and retail. The sector operates as an integrated global group and has been outpacing firm growth for many years.
What You'll Do
You will help support client service teams by working with them to understand, disaggregate and prioritize their research needs.
In this role, you will leverage broad industry knowledge and sources to efficiently collect, summarize and synthesize the relevant facts and you'll deliver this information to teams via well structured end products. You will also support ongoing internal efforts to organize and codify our internal knowledge and documents. This includes working closely with research team colleagues on collecting and codifying the existing base of knowledge currently present in our team.
Qualifications
- Student in the penultimate year of university degree; completed university degree is a plus
- Experience in a research-related position or in a CPG/retail company is a plus
- Interest in the consumer goods/retail industry as well as business and economic topics
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical abilities
- Strong service orientation and can-do attitude
- Excellent search skills on web sources and electronic databases
- Desire to work on different types and lengths of projects with the flexibility to operate in an evolving environment
- Ability to interact with team members in problem-solving sessions
- Strong ability to work independently as part of our geographically dispersed team
- Skills to communicate ideas effectively; ability to creatively retrieve, summarize and present complex information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
