Are you passionate about battery technology and sustainability? Do you enjoy data analysis and modeling? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Battery Insights team at McKinsey & Company as a Research Science Analyst! As a Research Science Analyst, you will be at the forefront of the battery revolution, conducting research and analysis on various aspects of battery industry. From battery raw material refining to battery end of life recycling, your work will contribute to the development of cutting-edge insights and recommendations in the field.
Who You'll Work With
What You'll Do
- Research plants/operations along the battery value chain, their technologies and product strategy to develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base (models and databases) on the whole battery industry.
- Analyze battery market and technology, uncovering the latest trends and advancements. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in battery related regulations around the globe.
- Collaborate with the external data analyst team to gather publicly available intelligence relevant to our assets.
- Participate in McKinsey's knowledge-building efforts by creating knowledge documents around your focus area.
- Work closely with McKinsey’s global consulting teams to bring the best of Battery Insights knowledge to clients. Your expertise will help shape analysis-based recommendations and drive innovation in one of the fastest-growing industries of our times.
Qualifications
- A passion for electrification and battery value chains
- Master's degree in (electro-) chemistry, materials science, physics, chemical/materials engineering, electrical/mechanical engineering
- Work or internship experience in market research or database building in a battery related laboratory/company preferred
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including modeling. Coding proficiency, e.g. in Python, is advantageous. Knowledge of data management, such as SQL, is also a plus
- Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
- Willing to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
- Self-motivated and service-orientated work ethic
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills
