Who You'll Work With

You'll be based in our Lisbon, Portugal office. You'll be part of Digital and Technology CCN team.
Digital & Tech CCN brings together the best of McKinsey’s digital capabilities to help our clients use digital technology to transform their businesses. Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities Network deliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are driven by a culture of innovation. You’ll join a global team working on everything from IT modernization and strategy to Agile, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. You’ll typically work on data transformation projects across all industries and functions and will be fully integrated with the rest of our global firm.
You’ll also work with colleagues from across McKinsey & Company to help our clients deliver breakthrough products, experiences, and businesses, both on technology and non-tech topics. Digital & Tech CCN has multiple Center of Competence (CoC) with members in each CoC supporting various service lines to bring deep subject matter expertise strengthening our client value proposition and delivery.
The Data & Analytics Transformation Center of Competence (CoC) is one such capability which supports multiple topics including Data & Analytics. The CoC serves as a global knowledge hub of expertise that owns, maintains, and deploys key proprietary knowledge assets. The CoC serves clients across the end-to-end data value chain, across each category (e.g., Data & Analytics (including AI, GenAI, etc.) Strategy & Use Case, Data Architecture, Data Governance & Operating Model, and Talent & Culture).

What You'll Do

You will serve clients by providing primary research support to consultants in various data and analytics-related topics. Additionally, you will work on client engagements, as part of the client service team, by bringing expertise to workstreams or by delivering our data & analytics tools and assets.
In this role, you will outline and problem-solve with client project teams on their research requirements. You will clarify request objectives and determine the most appropriate, cost-effective, and timely research/analytics approaches. Additionally, you will conduct in-depth research using relevant, qualified resources (e.g., proprietary, and external databases, analyst reports, and expert interviews) and provide the relevant and most up-to-date information.
In parallel, you will support the global data & analytics practice leadership to build out the firm's capabilities with the creation or maintenance of assets and client events (e.g., Global benchmarks, Global Data & AI summits, etc.) to tackle client’s challenges to become a cornerstone of the global core leadership team for our Data & Analytics practice.
As you progress in your journey at the firm, you will have an opportunity to build and own assets that help accelerate our client delivery while also building expertise in one of the cutting-edge technology topics such as GenAI implementation, Data & Analytics strategy, Data on Cloud, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Ops, ML Ops, Data Products and Operating Model to help our clients realize the value from data to transform their business.
You will work a hybrid home/office model and travel for events, client projects, and team connectivity events.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in IT/computer science, data science, engineering, physics, mathematics, electronics or equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in enterprise data architecture, data management processes or technology, data engineering or data science is a plus
  • General understanding and interest for digital/business technology
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and relevant analytics/statistical packages
  • Experience or knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, PHP, Java, JS, C, C++, etc.) and relevant tools e.g., data visualization, data analytics, data catalog, etc.) or cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCS, etc.) is a plus
  • Team player with highly professional customer service orientation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
