Knowledge Specialist- Technology Modernization, McKinsey Digital

Who You'll Work With

You will be part of McKinsey Digital Client Capabilities Network in Gurgaon, India. This group brings together the best of McKinsey’s digital capabilities to help our clients use digital technology to transform their businesses.
You’ll join a global team working on everything from IT modernization and strategy to agile, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. You’ll typically work on projects across all industries and functions and will be integrated with the rest of our global firm.
McKinsey Digital has multiple Centres of Competence (CoC) with members in each CoC supporting various Service Lines to bring deep subject matter expertise, strengthening our client value proposition and delivery. Technology Modernization is one such capability which supports multiple topics including but not limited to: technology diagnostics and strategy for various industry sectors; legacy tech landscape and system modernization (e.g., Core Banking, Insurance Core Systems, ERP etc.); technology platforms evaluation and assessment; executing digital strategy through internal and external integrations, FinTech partnerships etc. and API strategy and execution; technology resilience transformation; leveraging AI (including GenAI) to transform and enhance technology function’s impact, etc.
You will work directly with McKinsey’s clients and our colleagues globally to help deliver breakthrough products, experiences, and businesses, both on technology and business topics

What You'll Do

Create distinctive client impact:You will get the opportunity to work on challenging client engagements and lead critical business and technology decisions. These decisions span across the business-technology intersection and alignment, technology landscape, architecture, organization structure and operating model, technology-related processes, etc. You will spend significant of of your time meaningfully deployed on direct client activities. Direct client support may be onsite or remote, could be regional or global in nature, and will require you to be flexible to work with global clients spread across time zones and open to travel for short/long-term assignments.
Build stellar firm capabilities, expertise, and knowledge: In the remaining time, you will get to drive and support priority knowledge and asset initiatives, develop the best of the firm’s perspectives with our Service Line leaders, and work with the broader McKinsey Digital team on cross-cutting topics. You will help shape, build, innovate, and scale distinctive firm capabilities (expertise, knowledge, assets, toolkits etc.) to serve clients on Technology Modernization topics.
Develop your consulting toolkit:Through your client and firm-building work, you will get the chance to build a strong consulting toolkit, and life skills in general, e.g., problem-solving, prioritization. You will also build and radiate deep expertise on topic(s) at the intersection of business and technology that are critical for executives today and in the future.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, which could include the following archetypes: technology consulting with a digital and technology focus, preferably in the financial sector; hands-on technology transformation and consultative/PMO experience as part of an enterprise e.g., a bank or financial institution; deep experience and expertise in developing technology-oriented solutions e.g., Core Banking, Middleware, CRM, etc. preferably for financial services
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities with excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a global collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
  • Openness to travel to client/team locations (across the globe) to collaborate for maximum impact
