Who You'll Work With

You will be a member of McKinsey’s Reach and Engagement function in North America, collaborating with fellow communications professionals in geographic, central firm, and practice-based roles, along with senior firm leaders and external stakeholders in the region.
You will join our San Francisco office.

What You'll Do

You will help to shape and execute communications initiatives that strengthen McKinsey’s reputation with external stakeholders across the firm’s Bay Area, Denver, Seattle, and Southern California locations.
You will collaborate closely with office leadership and communications colleagues in central and practice-based roles to build a locally relevant thought leadership program that might include elevating the external profiles for local firm leaders, planning and managing external events, engaging local media, and providing counsel on location-specific publishing and reputation risk issues.
Your day-to-day work will include a mix of proactive opportunity creation and reactive advisory support. You will provide publication-ready writing and editing for external-facing materials, including presentations, social media posts and more. In partnership with media relations colleagues, you will conduct local press outreach to share relevant thought leadership and evaluate inbound inquiries, maintaining an ongoing pulse on the news landscape.
Beyond your location-specific work, you will also collaborate with the wider North America Reach & Engagement team on a range of regional activities that may include supporting a multi-channel campaign around a report launch, executing high profile national or global events, and scaling location-level initiatives across the region.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a business communications-related field, ideally in professional services, corporate communications, government, or a communications agency
  • Excellent communication skills across formats (e.g., written, verbal/presentation, digital-ready content) and experience owning a multi-channel communications strategy
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams) and collaboration tools (Box, Slack)
  • Demonstrated experience with end-to-end event management, including in partnership with external organizations
  • Adept at influencing and directing colleagues while managing the needs of multiple stakeholders (including relevant senior leaders)
  • Efficiently manages multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and ambiguous operating environment, working independently as well as collaboratively
  • Outstanding critical reasoning and problem-solving skills, including ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions
  • Ability to create psychological safety and inclusion within teams, enabling a collaborative environment
  • Bachelor’s/university degree required
  • Proficiency and fluency in verbal and written English required

A reasonable estimate of the range for new joiners for this role in the United States is $135,400 - $186,100. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinsey�s discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
