Capabilities & Insights Intern

Job ID: 89622
  • Sao Paulo

Who You'll Work With

You’ll work in our Sao Paulo office as part of our Client Capabilities Hub and specifically with a team of three Brazil-focused researchers based there. Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities Network (CCN) deliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are driven by a culture of innovation.
Though you will work day-to-day with colleagues in Sao Paulo, you will be part of a broader team. The America’s Insights Research Team is a group of ~50 analysts across multiple Americas locations (in Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the US) who work with global consulting teams and clients on topics related to demographics, business environment, public sector, and macroeconomics. In addition to providing a perspective in the above domains, the team is engaged in proactively building new capability areas to deploy in client situations in deeper ways.
We have deep expertise in company research, macroeconomic analysis, nearshoring, trade, and niche industry topics. In addition to client service, there is a knowledge development aspect of this role. As a service line, we are constantly investing in knowledge development to ensure we bring best-in-class approaches and resources to our clients. You will spend some portion of your time building our team’s knowledge, for example, in the form of codified expertise, standardized approaches to recurring questions, or Excel/Tableau-based analytics tools.

What You'll Do

You will support McKinsey’s client work in Brazil by responding to research questions from consultants and delivering synthesized, actionable facts and insights.
This requires you to leverage a solid understanding of business trends, data sources, and research techniques. Though requests span a variety of topics, some frequent areas of research include: healthcare, sustainability, regional demographic and economic analysis, and financial analysis.
Responding to requests will require you to perform a variety of analyses, such as benchmarking, trend identification, industry profiling, market sizing, growth projections, and opportunity scanning to add value to problem-solving discussions. You will also identify the key issues for the problem at hand and determine the most appropriate solution, effectively balancing quality, availability, timeliness, and cost factors of different research approaches.
Additionally, you'll provide synthesis, insights, and client implications in written memos, models, and frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Graduation between July 2025 and July 2026 in economics, business, or engineering
  • Solid understanding of general business concepts and terminology
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Dynamic team player; ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cross-cultural environment
  • Strong and structured process management skills with a detail-oriented style
  • Highly inquisitive; ability to leverage creative problem-solving techniques
  • Self-starter with a “can-do” and responsive attitude
  • Mature, discreet, respectful, and caring with confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English; Spanish is a plus
