Who You'll Work With

You’ll work at our Atlanta, Costa Rica, Miramar, Lisbon, Philadelphia, Stamford or Washington, DC office and be a part of the Purchasing team within Optimize, McKinsey’s global procurement function that enhance enhances and protects the firm’s resources and reputation by making responsible buying easy and creating leading solutions and experiences across our supplier ecosystem.
The Purchasing team plays a critical role in making responsible buying easy by designing and operating best in class end to end buying channels for a diverse group of spend categories and increasing compliance with critical controls.

Your impact within our firm

You will lead the day-to-day execution of the category buying channel, ensuring adherence to the five critical controls to enable an efficient process for buying, invoicing and payment; define the roles and responsibilities within the buying channel operating model; own the buying channel process to include detangling bottlenecks and refining and streamlining the process; facilitate the escalation of critical issues to responsible colleagues and ensure resolution in a timely manner.
In this role, you will manage the operation of the external workers buying channel to deliver a seamless end-to-end process that adheres to optimize critical controls and provides an outstanding user experience.
You will act as the primary point of contact for the category regarding buying channel issues. You will drive continuous improvement by leveraging existing/new technologies and best practices.
You will design and implement operational KPIs to measure performance and identify areas for improvement. You will proactively identify bottlenecks in the buying channel and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency. You will lead one-off issue resolution, including payment failures, banking changes, and charge code modifications, with a focus on quick resolution, root cause analysis and documentation.
You will develop buying channel user guides/SOPs and act as subject matter expert for the category buying channel. You will develop and maintain version control on all buying channel training and usage documents including roles and responsibilities within the buying channel.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field; master's degree or professional certification is a plus
  • 6+ years of experience in procurement, with a contingent labor focus and buying channel experience (External Worker Vendor Management Systems)
  • Strong problem solving, process-improvement, project management and client service capabilities
  • Comfort with navigating ambiguous situations with thoughtfulness and pragmatism
