Who You'll Work With
You’ll work in San Jose, Costa Rica as part of our Client Capabilities Hub working alongside our consultants and clients to generate distinctive insights and proprietary knowledge.
This internship position is a 6-month (potentially extendable to 12 months) based opportunity for students or new professionals looking to gain that extra step towards their professional development.
You’ll be part of the Operations Capabilities and Insights team. Playing an active role in the Ops team by collaborating with colleagues in regional and global Ops Teams.

Your impact within our firm
You'll focus on topics such as Capital Excellence, Service Operations, Manufacturing/Supply Chain and Product Development/Procurement.
As an Intern you will work with client service professionals to understand, disaggregate, and prioritize their knowledge and research needs. You will identify the key issues for the team and determine the most appropriate solution, effectively balancing quality, availability, timeliness, and cost factors. By leveraging broad information source knowledge and your understanding of McKinsey’s global network of knowledge professionals, you will efficiently collect, summarize, and synthesize the relevant facts. Research end products delivered to consulting teams include data visualization, presentations, frameworks, written memos and other end products.
You will be expected to bring interest and develop some expertise in one or multiple areas of the operations domain, depending on the needs of our clients. You will contribute to the continuous effort of building and managing a state-of-the-art knowledge management infrastructure by reviewing and selecting information sources, establishing links to internal and external experts, and developing and maintaining relevant library materials and databases.
Your qualifications and skills
- A third-year student or recent graduate in one of the following disciplines: industrial engineering, business management or related analytical skills
- Understanding of general business concepts and terminology; experience with operations functional topics would be an added advantage
- Professionalism and maturity
- Strong IT skills, including high levels of proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel
- Willingness to learn new systems and recommend ways to improve service to clients
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
- Demonstrated research experience in an academic or business setting is preferred
- Exceptional problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; fluency in English in business contexts
- Excitement for entrepreneurial, fast paced culture
- Ability to take ownership and prioritize under pressure
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
