Who You'll Work With
You will join the San Jose, Costa Rica Client Capability Hub as part of our Manufacturing and Supply Chain (MSC) Solutions, a component of McKinsey’s Operations practice that focuses on bringing deep expertise and tech-enabling our client service. MSC Solutions comprises a suite of internal and 3rd party tools, proprietary analytics, and benchmarking database that accelerates supply chain diagnostics and transformation.
You will work directly with our clients and McKinsey colleagues to deploy our digital capabilities and ensure we bring tangible, lasting impact to clients. You would primarily work from your home office but may be needed to travel for client work and for internal team and practice events periodically.
Your impact within our firm
You will support client engagements in logistics using best-in-class benchmarks, advanced analytics and implementation expertise.
In this role, you will work closely with our global logistics experts to enhance our existing product/asset development and building new ones.
You will apply our digital and analytical capabilities to assess opportunities in transportation, warehousing and network optimization. Your work will involve understanding client systems and processes, gathering and analyzing client data, running a suite of analytics to assess and quantity opportunities, generating insights and communicating recommendations. The primary focus of your position will be logistics.
In between client engagements, you will bring your learnings back to our internal product development team to further improve our capabilities, automate data capture, analytics, and presentation of insights to clients.
Your work will have a significant client facing component where you’ll have opportunities to present results to senior clients and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. You’ll gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm.
Your qualifications and skills
- Graduate or postgraduate degree in: science, engineering, mathematics, business or MBA; master’s degree in supply chain optimization / operation research / industrial engineering is a plus
- 5+ years of relevant work experience, plus a degree in a relevant area OR advanced degree in relevant area (PhD, MBA or specific 2-year master program) with 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in logistics is a requirement with a strong track record of consulting and client exposure preferred
- Working knowledge of TMS, WMS and/or network optimization tools (e.g. LLamasoft); knowledge of BI platforms (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
- Ability to handle data in large volumes (data manipulation, data cleansing and matching) through tools like SQL, Alteryx, KNIME, Python, R and advanced Excel
- Excellent analytical and modeling skills
- Willingness and excitement to travel internationally
- Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities, and an entrepreneurial mindset
- Good written and verbal communication skills; understanding of both written and spoken English, proficiency in Portuguese is a plus
