Who You'll Work With

You will work in our Miramar or Philadelphia office as part of our People Category team within McKinsey and Company’s Optimize function. The People category team partners with the People function and is responsible for managing the firm’s portfolio of suppliers supporting Benefits, Human Resources, Learning, Recruiting and Mobility. Optimize is the firm’s procurement function focusing on the end-to-end category management approach through following responsible buying practices and processes.

Your impact within our firm

You will drive value from the People-focused procurement category by delivering data-driven market and strategic performance insights, fostering innovation and continuous improvement across spend areas, and collaborating with Optimize Subject Matter Expert’s and other relevant leaders to reinforce McKinsey’s broader objectives and value proposition through our procurement activities, focused on the People Category.
You will build analytical capacity across the team by developing success metrics for initiatives and categories, enhancing tools and techniques to track and report on performance, and serving as a critical thought partner support continuous improvement across all areas of People category procurement activities. In this role you will gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations.
You will support the ongoing adoption of processes and ensure compliance with Optimize and firm policies as well as support broader ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and risk strategies (e.g., analytics and initiative support). You will identify trends and gaps, share expertise with cells to ensure full understanding of market and options to improve solutions and strategies. You will drive the analytical agenda and data infrastructure across multiple teams, ensuring teams' strategic decisions and roadmaps are informed by data.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree in business, operations, or other analytical field preferred
  • 4+ years’ experience in business, consulting, research, or quantitative fields
  • Deep understanding of analytic tools & problem-solving toolkit
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functions at all organizational levels
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing
  • Comfort with navigating ambiguous situations with thoughtfulness and pragmatism
  • Strong problem solving, structuring, communications and client service capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
