Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You’ve come to the right place.

Who You'll Work With

You will be part of McKinsey’s Client Service Risk (CSR) function and will be based in North America. The CSR function’s mission is to enable McKinsey’s client impact and innovation, while managing risks to our clients, people and firm. This role is focused on long-term implementation and program management support to track, escalate and where needed, provide content-based support on risk processes. You will work closely with the practice leaders to provide independent advice and guidance to colleagues across the firm. You will regularly collaborate with other firm functions providing legal, compliance, and communications support to consultant teams. You should be perceived in all activities as a peer adviser to firm Partners’ dual mission of enabling client service while managing risks to the firm.
This role reports to the Director of Client Service Risk, US & Canada.

Your impact within our firm

Since 2018, we have invested nearly $1 billion to upgrade our internal risk, legal, and compliance capabilities as part of our ambition to lead our industry—and we have recruited some of the world’s best talent to help. Among other enhancements, we introduced an industry-leading client service framework (CITIO), which helps us vet each new client and guides our approach to projects. Our commitment extends to our suppliers and internal systems, where we have improved cybersecurity controls, data and document retention, and process management. Annually, our colleagues participate in a rigorous Professional Standards and Risk training program.
In this role, you will lead day-to-day program management activities for Risk programs, including day-to-day progress tracking of initiatives, as well as problem solving to resolve roadblocks and escalating items for senior support.
You will define and maintain program-level reporting on progress made, outcomes achieved and risks and mitigants, working with other stakeholders to accurately reflect these dimensions in reporting.
As part of this role, you will also lead production of progress updates to internal and external stakeholders on risk-related topics.
To improve program efficiency, you will implement and enhance software solutions for program management tracking, using as feasible, common systems and tools used in other functions.
You will also help identify and surface for discussion dependencies between different actions undertaken and recommend how these dependencies can be managed (e.g., timing, handoffs).
You will work closely with other firm functions (e.g., Ethics & Compliance, Legal) to manage tracking and progress communication of inter-related initiatives.
Depending on the program needs, you may provide “surge” support to workstreams/ action owners for content development, e.g., triaging client cases, maintaining the client risk-tiering policy, with supervision from the workstream.
Finally, to drive the CSR team’s mission, you will also contribute to awareness efforts around risk policies, procedures, and practices to drive engagement across the firm within North America while also shaping and delivering a world-class Risk program to enable the firm’s most cutting-edge work.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree(s) and/or applicable professional certifications preferred
  • 5+ years of professional experience in risk management, government, communications, law, consulting, media, public policy, and/or public affairs
  • Strong program/project management expertise required
  • Proven interpersonal and influencing skills with an ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based relationships
  • Outstanding English written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills and excellent listening skills
