Are you driven by the opportunity to tackle complex challenges and work alongside top leaders? Do you want to be part of a team that delivers outcomes that others simply can’t? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

Who You'll Work With

McKinsey & Company is a premier global management consulting firm and trusted adviser on strategy, organization, operations and information technology to the world’s leading businesses, governments and institutions. Serving 90% of the 100 largest global companies, McKinsey is a global firm, with over 130 offices in 65 countries, linked by closely-knit industry and functional practices that concentrate on knowledge and expertise.
Since 2018, we have invested nearly $1 billion to upgrade our internal risk, legal, and compliance capabilities as part of our ambition to lead our industry—and we have recruited some of the world’s best talent to help. Among other enhancements, we introduced an industry-leading client service framework (CITIO), which helps us vet each new client and guides our approach to projects. Our commitment extends to our suppliers and internal systems, where we have improved cybersecurity controls, data and document retention, and process management. Annually, our colleagues participate in a rigorous Professional Standards and Risk training program.
You will be part of McKinsey’s Ethics and Compliance (E&C) function and will be based in North America or Europe. The E&C function’s mission is to manage risks to the firm, our clients, and our people, while also enabling the firm’s client impact and innovation. The E&C function is a globally integrated team within the second line of defense of the firm. McKinsey has an E&C program that is structured in a way that ensures that it is well designed, empowered to function effectively, and works in practice. Our E&C program includes a clear message that misconduct is not tolerated as well as policies, procedures, training, monitoring and consequence management to ensure the program is well-integrated into the firm’s operations and workforce. This opportunity works in our Ethics pillar, which is responsible for instilling trust by amplifying integrity, effectively managing concerns, and leading labor and human rights compliance.
This role reports to the Senior Director of Ethics and Regulatory Relations.

Your impact within our firm

In this role, you will own and drive our end-to-end labor & employment and human rights programs. You will oversee design, development, delivery, and maintenance of global labor and employment compliance and global human rights compliance initiatives including risk assessment, governance, awareness and training, and monitoring and remediation. You will establish and maintain the framework for identifying key labor and employment related risks including but not limited to human rights and immigration, and how the mitigation of those risks will be monitored and measured through the firm’s control framework.
You will review and update governance and related documents for the firm's labor and employment compliance program, participate in the firm's risk assessment process, and mitigate labor and employment-related risks.
Additionally, you will monitor adherence to Federal, state, and local labor laws (e.g., immigration, human rights, harassment, discrimination, etc.), including the firm’s global labor and employment policies, procedures, and practices. You will maintain up-to-date knowledge on key labor and employment regulatory changes, key enforcement actions, and related industry trends.
You will oversee Ethics and Compliance (E&C) program-related reporting highlighting labor and employment risks for the firm, key metrics, and potential remediation plans for mitigating risks.
You will also provide advice to firm employees on an ongoing basis on new business initiatives, new products, business acquisitions, and related matters with respect to applicability of labor and employment policies and governance, including the identification and resolution of potential red flags.
In addition, you will provide expertise on immigration and visa requirements both internally and to firm clients and third parties.
You will be required to engage in regionally focused initiatives, such as our infusing integrity agenda, under the direction and coordination of our regional E&C leaders, the purpose of which is to raise awareness of and further the Firm’s E&C program, and other agreed-upon supporting activities in your region or location.
Collaboration is a key aspect of this role. You will collaborate with a cross-functional and senior stakeholder group (e.g., Legal, Risk) across the firm in a timely and efficient manner to understand our legal obligations for specific laws and requirements pertaining to labor and employment-related issues.
You will also interact with firm stakeholders to raise awareness of labor and employment trends, emerging issues, remedial actions, or enhancements to the program and supervise the preparation of materials for firm leadership.
Finally, you will play a critical role in sustaining and evolving our E&C program and upholding our commitment to integrity and lawful practices.

Your qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree required; legal degree highly preferred
  • 10+ years professional experience in ethics, compliance, risk, legal, and/or governance in a large organization
  • Minimum of 5-8 years in driving regulatory compliance programs with specific knowledge and expertise on labor & employment requirements and programs. Knowledge and experience in human rights and immigration laws and requirements highly preferred.
