The role of Senior Tax Analyst is to support the Group Tax Team, located in UK with the management of global indirect compliance and filing obligations for a range of US and UK entities.
The Senior Tax Analyst will work as part of a small team of senior tax analyst’s that sit within the Pearson Finance Services (“PFS”) function located in Manila Philippines and will report to Global Indirect Tax Manager.
The Group Tax Team ultimately reports into the Deputy CFO.
The role will involve predominantly global indirect tax (VAT/GST) compliance activities, but at times will also encompass demand led and ad hoc work to support other activities as requested by the Group Tax Team. Pearson has outsourced the preparation of global VAT/GST returns to a 3rd party provider and therefore daily interaction with this 3rd party will be key to this role.
Work shift will be from 1PM to 10PM, Monday to Friday and 100% remote work arrangement.
Main activities/responsibilities:
Responsible for managing of defined global VAT & GST compliance activities including:
Preparation of all data and ledger information for timely submission to 3rd party provider for preparation of global VAT/GST returns.
Reviewing and providing sign off on returns prepared to ensure all global compliance deadlines are met.
Provide support to Group Tax Team on VAT/GST audits, tax office enquiries and internal controls.
Responsible for key activities relating to VAT accounting.
Preparing/reviewing data analytics and trend analysis of VAT/GST return information.
Supporting with tax projects on request from Group Tax Team.
Key interactions:
Interaction with Director Global Indirect Tax, Indirect Tax Managers, and other Tax Department members – regular contact.
Working with key finance stakeholders in the business.
Other Senior Tax Analysts within PFS.
Candidate Profile
Philippine Certified Public Accountant
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in tax
Qualification and experience required.
Essential:
Familiarity with major accounting systems.
Accounting and/or Tax Experience.
Computer literate with advanced excel skills.
Must be able to demonstrate the use of the above skills, experience, knowledge and qualifications over reasonable period of time.
Desirable:
Experience with and ability to work with Oracle
The suitable candidate should ideally have some exposure to global indirect taxes e.g. EU VAT, Sales tax, GST etc.
Person Specification
A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to work remotely but as part of a global function.
Self-motivated and able to carry through varied projects to a satisfactory conclusion.
