We’re looking for the next generation of talented undergraduates to join our team for an unforgettable 10-week internship. An internship at Pearson is an opportunity to bring your own unique perspective as a learner, together with your academic knowledge, technical skills, and enthusiasm, to help create products used by students like you.
As one of our interns, you will gain a comprehensive introduction to our business. You’ll be assigned to a team and work on real-life projects that bring our products and services to life. On the job training and professional development will be provided to enable you to contribute to the business. You’ll also have direct access to a senior member of the team, as each intern will be mentored to help you make the most of the 10-week program.

What Does the Internship Program Offer?
Successful candidates will spend 10 weeks working with our technology teams.
You will be paid for the duration of your internship. The internship begins on Monday, June 5th and ends Friday, August 11th.
Job Description
As a Cloud Engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about the culture of DevOps which includes the DevOps philosophy, practices and tooling. The PACE team support applications build for Content Authoring, Ingestion, Enhancement and Distribution. An ideal fit for this role would be someone who can thrive in a fast paced environment and willing to be assertive and work hard to take on challenges as they arise. You will gain practical experience with a wide variety of DevOps tools and technologies.
What does the 10 weeks involve?
You develop knowledge of building and maintaining infrastructure in Amazon Web Services (AWS) using a popular infrastructure as code (IaC) tool called Terraform. You will also learn about how to build CI/CD pipelines and configure and support monitoring tools that are needed to understand the health of the applications we support. You will also learn agile standards and processes. The manager will distribute your assignments and you will also have a mentor that will help you with your assignments. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse global team of engineers.
With your knowledge of a programming language, you will be able to automate repetitive tasks. You will also be expected to gain knowledge of the Linux operating system, Git (Bitbucket), Jenkins, Docker, and the services of AWS. You will have the opportunity to take a certification test before the end of your internship.
Minimum Requirements
We look for Students pursuing a STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with Software Development subjects or relevant work experience. We also look for Students pursuing a degree in computer science, software engineering, information security, engineering or technology.
Students should also have a basic understanding of a programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Node.js or Ruby.
Knowledge of a version source control tool such a Git.
Students should well-rounded and eager to take on new challenges. Flexibility is important, as you will be joining a versatile and agile team.
Graduation date of May 2025
Must be able to work hybrid; in-person/remote at our Durham office for the entire 10-weeks
