We’re looking for the next generation of talented undergraduates to join our team for an unforgettable 10-week internship. An internship at Pearson is an opportunity to bring your own unique perspective as a learner, together with your academic knowledge, technical skills, and enthusiasm, to help create products used by students like you.
As one of our interns, you will gain a comprehensive introduction to our business. You’ll be assigned to a team and work on real-life projects that bring our products and services to life. On the job training and professional development will be provided to enable you to contribute to the business. You’ll also have direct access to a senior member of the team, as each intern will be mentored to help you make the most of the 10-week program.

What Does the Internship Program Offer?
Successful candidates will spend 10 weeks working with our technology teams.
You will be paid for the duration of your internship. The internship begins on Monday, June 3rd and ends Friday, August 9th.
As a Security Engineer, you will develop expertise in information security, working collaboratively with the Security and Risk Management teams across IT and Chief Information Security Office (CISO). You will be helping Pearson analyze problems, working with technical partners and teams to understand the security architecture, product development and threat landscape, and assist in implementing and managing new security services and enabling tools and processes.
What does the 10 weeks involve?
Interns will develop a broad knowledge of Cyber Security at Pearson, completing rotational placements across security functions within IT and CISO ranging from Security Operation Centre (SOC), threat intelligence, forensics investigations, risk management, product security through to security testing and vulnerability remediation. There will also be an opportunity to work and contribute to security architecture and security engineering initiatives.
We look for Students pursuing a STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with information security subjects or relevant work experience. We also look for students pursuing a degree in computer science, cyber security, software engineering, information security, engineering, or technology.
Students should also have a basic familiarity of Cloud platforms, in particular AWS, Azure and/or Google. Experience in coding with Python or similar would be useful.
Students should be a ‘people person’, well-rounded and happy to take on new challenges. Flexibility is important, as you will be joining a versatile and agile Cyber Security team. Critical thinking and analytical communication are desirable qualities in a candidate.

Must be able to work hybrid; in-person/remote at our Durham office for the entire 10-weeks
