The opportunity
Unity Ads Data Engineering team is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Data Engineering and a passion for working on cutting edge technology.
We are looking for a team player that can work independently but also be a mentor for engineers on the team.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of data pipelines and services to enable data-driven insights and power BI, ML, experimentation and user-facing features.
You will be exposed to multiple cloud platforms and data pipelines that process >7 billion events per day. We expect that you have had exposure and experience with big data pipeline engineering.

What you'll be doing
- Collaborate closely with our BI team and key stakeholders to design and develop analytics products and data solutions for both internal and external customers.
- Design and build scalable data pipelines using a variety of technologies such as Spark, Python, Airflow, Snowflake, BigQuery, DBT, Druid, and others.
- Work cross-functionally with ML engineers, data scientists, and analysts to understand business objectives and data needs, translating them into solutions that drive data insights and reporting.
- Apply industry best practices for data infrastructure, storage, and processing in a petabyte-scale environment.
- Leverage cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Snowflake) to architect and develop cloud-based data solutions that are reliable and efficient.
- Proactively monitor and maintain data pipelines to ensure they meet internal service level agreements (SLAs).
- Implement and uphold data governance strategies to ensure data quality, consistency, and security across the organization.
What we're looking for
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on building scalable, efficient data pipelines.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Flink and Spark, as well as cloud platforms (experience with GCP is preferred, but AWS is also a plus).
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and patterns like SCD, CDC, snapshots, partitioning, etc.
- Solid data architecture skills, with experience working across multiple repositories, services, and environments.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and take full ownership of problem definitions and solutions.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
You might also have
- Knowledge of Kafka or similar pub-sub technology.
- Experience in AdTech is a plus, but not required
