The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

About the Role:

The Senior People Development Partner is a strong and motivated individual who delivers development opportunities and consultation to enhance competencies and effectiveness to a variety of WGU audiences. This individual contributes to analyzing, designing, developing, delivering and evaluating learning and performance improvement solutions to close performance and skill gaps. They partner and assist with highly confidential talent management activities. This individual is responsible for learners' success in achieving learning objectives and provide data-driven results to management. The Senior People Development Partner is a resource for development and an advocate for success, enabling business results generated through learning and performance improvement solutions and tools (classroom and virtual, e-learning, job aids, coaching, learning management systems and other learning technologies).

What you'll do...

  • Conducts needs analysis on projects of all levels of complexity and may lead the collaboration to develop, deliver, and maintain training for new hires and existing faculty and staff.

  • Facilitates effective instruction and discussions regarding new and current training materials. This may include leading change initiatives. Provides feedback to the Learning Experience Design team on solutions’ effectiveness in changing behavior and achieving business results.

  • Serves as a model for carrying out WGU’s mission and strategic vision, consistently exhibiting WGU Leadership Principles in all aspects of service to students, employees, and partners of WGU.

  • Provides feedback to participants during application of knowledge and skills. Uses data and recognizes potential training solutions for customer. Develop training materials, assessments, surveys, and other tools for measuring the effectiveness of training

  • Collaborates effectively through diverse avenues with a variety of management, team members, quality assurance, and employees throughout the organization. Sometimes serving as the “go-to person” at the team, function, and organization level.

  • Participates in analyzing, selecting, and integrating technologies into learning solutions and teaches others to effectively utilize technology and adapt to changes in technology to support essential job functions.

  • Consults with their leadership in determining appropriate actions for atypical situations or developments outside the scope of the originally assigned project.

  • Engages in creative problem-solving to drive continuous improvement. Assists management in identifying development needs of employees and managers within WGU. In some WGU organizations, partners would collaborate with Quality Assurance colleagues to identify potential training opportunities.

  • Coaches all levels of WGU staff to enhance their performance and is accountable for the learning results at the individual and team level.

  • Models leadership and professionalism at all times. Takes initiative and is self-managed with specific project assignments.

  • Demonstrates accuracy and professionalism throughout their daily operations.

  • Promotes and drives usage of People Development solutions.

  • Has an awareness of the fiscal impact of projects, resources, and materials used in training.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill, Abilities, and Competencies:

  • Expertise with virtual learning technology, systems, and instructional methods.

  • Ability to present topics and information in a dynamic, engaging, and effective way.

  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skills (both in-person and virtual). Tactfulness and discretion are required in communications as the subject matter often involves sensitive material.

  • Builds collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in a deadline-driven environment, ensuring People Development offerings are aligned to achieve WGU’s Key Results

  • Ability to track tasks/deliverables and remain organized.

  • Ability to maintain a positive and influential attitude with all members of WGU.

  • Ability to work without supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • A developed understanding of the people and operations at WGU, including an understanding and appreciation of the competency-based education model. For some customer-facing teams, this includes subject matter expertise relevant to projects and initiatives as required.

  • Ability and temperament to proactively consider the needs of others.

  • Creative mindset for recommending new initiatives.

  • Attention to detail in keeping development materials updated and effective in order, flow, and learning curve.

  • Advanced skills in planning, organizing, and self-management required with the ability to manage multiple projects at different stages.

  • A willingness to be innovative and take risks that promote successful learning outcomes.

  • Works to achieve operational targets within job areas impacting department, function, or office results, as well as helping customers achieve their key results.

  • Responsible for employing adjustments or recommended enhancements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve the job area’s effectiveness while leveraging a systems-thinking approach.

  • Ability and willingness to have a growth mindset. Also, provide & receive constructive, professional feedback with others.

  • Provide assistance to entry-level professionals on the training team and or support employees.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong and productive relationships with a variety of people.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements...

  • 5+ years of recent training experience with Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree. For some customer-facing groups, a Master’s degree is required.

  • ICF Certification at PCC or MCC level.

  • Proficient use of educational technology platforms and common software packages, such as an LMS System, MS Office and SharePoint.

  • Experience with applying distance-learning and adult-learning principles.

  • Experience in course and curriculum development, learning effectiveness measurement, as well as a broad knowledge of project management.

  • Acceptable level of internet connectivity to allow trainer to fully participate in training activities, according to the WGU Employee Handbook​.

Nice to have...

  • Master's degree (or equivalent).

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in higher education.

  • Experience with learning and course-authoring software (e.g., Rise, Camtasia).
